BBBBBBBoat!

I finally got the boat trip! ^o^

It's a coincidence that when I'm on board, my mp3 player went into the "1900" music sound track part! haha! This makes my trip even more interesting!

SWISS! ZURICH!!

The Temperature outside of the airport is VERY familiar: JESUS CHIRST!!! I AM HOME!!!! I just can't help smiling all the time. To be the other's guide is so okay for me, for I'm not just a visitor. I'm someone who knew this place much!! >^O^<

An elder kind lady showed me the bus to the Zurichsee, and shared also with me that there's early morning market in the Bruekliplatz- with vegies and flowers! Ha! I love surprises, and it's Flowers!! It's quite easy to tell that people here love flowers and the early markets, because quite many people passed by and took some flowers, vegies, breads or cheece, olives with them. Oh, even the very early morning of Swiss is charming!! ^^

Departure

My fault! I made my mom nervous like hell with me....But something interesting is- she drove the car with Buddihsm prayers while I prayed to Jesus. I guess all "Gods" hear us and the prayers ^^. We made it in the very last minute! Should arrive at the CKS before 7:15, and we were there 7:10 checking in. If not for the online check-in, it definately would be worse!!

I blame myself, horribly on being so irresponsible and making parents so worried, nervous, and even hurt. At the gate, I cried because of the last minute release, and more importantly, because of feeling so guilty and sorry towards Mom and Dad. As great parents ever, they don't deserve being treated like this....

I AM TERRIBLY SORRY.....

Also, I felt sorry for treating Philip so bad and harsh... He is always trying SO HARD on solving problems, merging our gap, creating better relationship modle for us(or should say- for me) Saying goodbye to him in the airport still made tears come out... for his being so understanding and kind....

Wierd but destined, on the way to HK, I watched a discovery programme introducing Singapore's independence. LaLaLa..... The world is amazing, isn't it?

ON THE WAY HOME!

ON THE WAY HOME!
ON THE WAY HOME!
ON THE WAY HOME!
ON THE WAY HOME!
ON THE WAY HOME!
ON THE WAY HOME!

Taoban House陶板屋, Yammy!

Parents, their friends and I went to Taoban House last night. Their purpose was to seek advices from Mr. Yeh about certain PTA projects, as for me? Just go for yummy food! hahaha~

Nevertheless, I still learned a lot during their talks. Mr. and Mrs. Chuang are PTA members of WanXing Elementary School, where my mom is the principal. Mr. Yeh is the chairman of PTA of JenAi Elementary School. He gave quite some useful methods to raise funds amongst parents to install air conditioners for their kids. In short:

1. Do survey, and obey public wills
"Do you want your kid's classroom to install air conditioners?" Let the parent(s) and kid(s) make their decision on their business, and collect the anonymus results. When the "yes" exceed 1/2 or even 2/3 (it depends), the class is started to be concerned in the installation project, but not quite.

2. Your own donation benefits your own kid(s)
Collect money that is needed for the installation. The money amount could be rough, but exceed a little over the market standard. When the class collects enough amount, it is officially involved in the project. Otherwise, the air conditioner would still be flying in the air~

No survey results, Not much money = No air conditioner in this classroom = hot summer = your kids is always envious of the cool classroom next door

Also, the air conditioner "moves" with your class when needed.
  • Original classroom A got one but the new B didn't-> take it there.
  • New semester, brand new class members with new teacher-> your kids are guaranteed to be distributed into the classroom with air conditioner.
3. Public participation, Public decision
All classes that meet the above requirements are asked to send delegates to participate in the purchasing process- choosing the brand, asking for discounts, giving opinions on the dates which start the installation. Once things are decided, niether the school nor the PTA should be responsible for the results.

Also, group power can get group discout that you can hardly imagine :)

4. Do listen to opinions that against the propose, but never give in easily.
There's always someone who is "special." Take good care of them. Reason with them logically.
But the things that should be done should be done.

5. Discounts come from public praise.
Of course group power contributes, but remember to use potential public praise as the great weapon.

6. To know somebody or to know nobody, there's huge difference.
To be an influential person is great....Sigh....

I knew I divagated. But, these are yammy too, don't you think so?

Pinky Welcomes Pinky!!

Curt's Back! From our "hometown" Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland!
His plane arrived at the airport at noon, and Mom and I went to pick him up, I myself wearing Pink- staff T-shirt hoping that he would do the same thing. Just check the picture in the left!! HE IS 100% MY BROTHER :D

He for sure brought back lots of great stories and pictures, never to mention many lovely presents including conquests from "lost and found" stock, pure souvenirs, chocolates, chocolates, and chocolates....haha! And.....two hiking sticks were for Mom and Dad, a Swiss red purse for me(see below), a Swiss 3D map chocolate set for me, etc.

WELCOME HOME my dear Curt(or maybe I should call him "Ting" from now on?) And thanks for all the joy you've brought to me :)

Post Love from the World- ONLINE!

Cannot think of better way to preserve my postcards and the thoughts which was never recorded.
Maybe to open this blog may help!

Composing Resume

is not easy, and needs devotion- especially when I have really nothing big to tell.....

Here's some good English Resume online references, use them properly!!
http://www.resumeedge.com/
http://esl.about.com/library/howto/htresume.htm
I've benefited from both of them, and found out, though ashamed, that what I had two years ago was so green and so lack of attraction. I guess the GradSchools got sufficient reason to reject me then- the girl who just graduated, had no professional experience, with horrible GRE score, and a naive resume....

Fight! Prove them my maturity!

Long Long Long Meeting

It wore me out.... Maybe one of the reasons why I felt tired so easy was- I was not really the key participants who needed to focus on what was going on at that critical moment, so that my eyes lost focus soon as well as my brain, and my forehead couldn't help kissing the meeting table...

Ah......time to bed. I gave in!

Postcard Collections!

Gradually, I'll have all my postcards scanned. They looked just marvelous and impressive!

E.g. The left hand side one was from Jean(TW) when she went for budget travel in Australia. "What did she write to you?" you may ask. Of course that part was secret- my privacy! However, I did scanned both sides of them in case one day I'll need the digital records. As my friends and audiences like you, anyways, will at least have the privilege to see the photo side. Hey! It is great enough, believe me- because the postcards may come from all around the globe!!

Going Out! Goint Out!

Fight!!!!!!!

Curt + Geneva = ?

Marvelous stories!!!!!!

Checking his blog let my family burst into joyful tears several times. We just cannot help it!
Further, because I've been there last year, all things he described somehow matched my experience and thoughts, proving that I'm not the only person who easily got lost in Geneva, who complained about the citizens' poor(?) English and the unfriendly French road sign, who thought our flower clock in Mt. Yang-Ming was surely better and prettier than that in British Garden-Geneva. Also, it's a plearsure to find out that my brother- just like me- fell in love with all the solemn churches everywhere- we just cannot help it!hahahahahahaha!

I guess I've done Swiss travel three times already. One with four family members when 12 in winter, another by myself wandering here and there last Autumn, the other mentally with my brother this summer. I should say- I'm really rich. It's not material side, but the spiritual aspect. Guess what? NO ONE can EVER take this rich away :)

My New Space in the Office

It's actually not New, because we've worked like this for almost a month. Since it's the first time I posted it here, and people were still surprised by its new appereance, let's still call it "New Space" then : )

What do I have in the office? The standard equipments include: a set of PC, speakers with bass, a headphones, a scanner, a telephone. What I brought here- which only I myself have them- includes: my mug from NTUMUN, my dolphin doll named "Gray Gray," my red kitty paper clay namecard holder, etc. And, I must put emphasis on my desktop: it's ALWAYS my lovely friends in KISC!! As for the screen saver, it's ALWAYS the sentence: It's not Rain. It's Liquid Sunshine!! -from Ex-Pinkies.

These components have made my working hours less unbearable......

2006/09/06

My First Flower in the Office

brought by James Wang, but of course from someone else.

It was a pity that Jessie was no longer there with me, thus no one could really share my emotions in the first moment.

But, I dare not to appreciate my flower closely till one day later- today, after some truly touching sayings and promises. He's..... maybe not the best, but he showed his sincerety to solve problems, to face challenges, to bear my terrible(to him) decisions. Maybe, he deserve one more chance.

I accepted the flowers now. Although they're not my favorite callas, neither are they tulips, their fragrance is the best ever. : )

Great Cooking Diary in Alpes

from Lion Ting! hahahaha~~

Dear my lovely friends, if you can read Chinese, go enjoy his story! He and the other TW friend hand-made some dumplings to those westerners in KISC and got hit!! They've done everything by themselves from rolling the skin, mixing the pork and vegies, boiling them, and serving to people. I have never done those when I was there, because I'm not that skillful and I'm alone. Happy for them to conquer the westerners heart by conquering their stomach!!!

Jeez! My brother is so great!!!

雖然一般人的水準做不到,但「We are the best」,所以我們做得到。

Jessie Officially Left Us

After 1.5 years of serving for GASC, Jessie officially resigned and left the office- today. Just few days ago, we suddenly found that the ONLY picture of both of us was taken during the National Jamboree this year, by Philip.

WHAT? ARE U SERIOUS?
Yes, I'm telling you the truth......Sounds wierd, right?

I guess most of the time when we were together we concentrated on working and serving others, so that we hardly remembered to take any pictures together. Philip, accidentally, initiated the idea of taking one. Otherwise, I guess we won't even have a single picture taken >"<

Frankly, I'm nervous about her leaving, for she's my best closest friend in the office. I can't imagine how my life will change afterwards. At least, no one in the office would listen to my worries and complains-like a "friend" than a collegue; maybe no one would sincerely invite me for lunch and step outside with pure joy and happiness (of excaping from the office?).; no girl stays in the same room with me when we're in events, etc.

Goodbye Jessie, although I know when I step into the office tomorrow morning, the "something-is-missing" feeling will strike me harshly, it's better for you.

Be well. Take Care....

http://a8.ent.tom.com/player/splay.php?songid=114805

Don't know what may happen during this break,
Have no idea about if anything will change my mind,
Just- need a break,
to take a breath,
to look outside of the window,
to embrace my usual life,
to enjoy the world, of lonelyness, again.....

Warehouse Resetting

My office started to clean the back warehouse (finally XD) today, and the rubbish inside is overwhelmingly exceed our expectation.... We got a lot different kinds of certificates from all periods, even from different chairmen; tons of blank receipts and receipt records; boxes of camp projects, achievement reports, and half-done or complete models/finished products from Scouts for certain training courses; souvenirs, all sizes of posters as well as other handouts, booklets, leaflets, achievement reports- for all kinds of Jamborees, ETC.
One of the boxes represent the love from our Japanese friends. I was told that they sent a lot of masks for us during SARS, and it was very easy for you to find out those masks. They are here, in this box with LOTS OF STAMPS...... Jeez.....I've never seen people doing this before. They must be in a hurry?? so that they forgot to send it by buying a postal ticket instead of pasting so many stamps......

I can't help taking a picture of it. Amazing, huh?

The Most Classic Tennis Court!

SSSSU SHI!

Mom, Dad, and I went to Carrefour tonight, and we chose SUSHI Express 爭鮮 to be our dinner. NT 30 per dish, quite fair and acceptable, we three had 17 of them. Mom and I was choked by Wasabi a few times on our nose, but it was cool to us! I know some of you just cannot understand why, but unless you try it once, you'll never know!!!

When I was full, I started to look around and to take silly pics. On the left, ladies and gentlemen, was the king of tonight- Mr. Arthur Chen! He ate all these you see! hahahahahahaha~

Ohohoh wait, I guessed someone disagreed with my report, she jumped in and asked me to correct my report: oh well, ladies and gentlemen, Madem Chin-Yu Hung was truly the queen of tonight~ All these, yeah you're right, 17 of them, were finished by her, and apparently she felt just fine. See, she's still drinking some tea and relaxing~

Dearest friends, no matter how silly you think this article is, at least I would like you to know one thing- I'm the luckiest girl in the world, because I have a great family here! :)

Maintain the Website/Blog

Recently I got problem maintaining our Official Website of GASC. When people left their complains/suggestions in the forum, it was natural for them to think that "surely I should get some response soon," and they especially expected the key persons (people in charge, mostly the "bosses") to give them the official answers. I understood their concerns fully, but these incidents sparked me to think about "the real method to keep a/the website/blog running." So free and liberal our society is, is it truly matter that all the requests should be dealt with, and all the complains be taken into consideration seriously?

I was the kind of people who embraced the efficiency of ICT(Information Communication Technology) much; yet by the recent experieces, deeply I knew it was somehow incorrect. First, not everyone can catch up with the pace, and it was not correct to force them to do so. Comparatively, the elders would never meet the youths' standard. Some elders, like Mr. Lee, have tried their best, but since new softwares and new skills evolve so quick, quite possibly that they will still be left behind. Additionally, ICT is something too new that does not belong to their original living and working style, if they remain execute their mission well, just in a slower way though, they should not be blamed harshly- not to mention that their eagerness and passion to solve problems we've encountered were by no means less. Besides elders, so many people are not allowed, or incapable of, accessing Internet so frequently due to their environment or background limitations- they may be willing to, but they just can't. How can we blame them on their less active response?

Further, supposing to use the ICT is never a problem to everyone, people can- using their free will- choose not to use it, and prefer their "old-fashioned" ways instead. "We need time to think this over and then make proper decision." Mr. Lee told me once, "no one can stand any rough explanations on this big issue, don't you think?" Thus, when people raised big issues in our forum, my boss(es) mostly prefered to postpone the reply and to give thorough answers later when needed, and these issues sometimes inspired them to come up with a brand new general project/plan later on. To me, I valued this kind effects then get a fast but vague response. What's more, in a rapid world with enormous information flow every passing second, I can fully understand people's info-phobia. If listening to their heart and staying away from ICT are their choice, and thus this group of people are questioned to be out-of-date or not cooperative, it is not fair, or even a discrimination, to them.

Back to the comments, if all comments are constructive and influential, to give them proper response should be our least duty. But, is it so? Freedom of speech has been misused for centries, and we all knew it. Most of the time, people cannot wait to criticize and to attack others even when they got merely the biased "truth." Ironically almost every time, the public tent to believe those sayings, which worsen the situation. The authority, however, either has no time to clarify itself clause by clause, or has no right to give responses to all criticisms when the real causes of problems were due to failure of division(s)/department(s) but not the HQ, and thus, again, this made thing terribly bad....

At the same time, sectionalism made the HQ or other departments become "trouble maker(s)," which was not necessarily true, but all posts online- unilateral communication- often broadened people's conception gap but not narrowed it down. Why not use less time to type and save more time to talk in person? Why use the ambiguous way to express your feelings and to expect others' response through virtual world? If it is soooo important, and you're eager to know the answer immediatedly, why not call? Why not make an appointment? Why not use your full name and full title to stand before the person in charge, pointing at them with your finger, telling them how terrible they've done their job, instead of discrediting people in behind, and bullying the fundamental staffs who were mostly incapable of shouldering the blame?

Nearly am I a perfectionist, but I won't torture myself on these this time. Luckily that I've got some support to stay cool. Ala......I'll go through it, hopefully!

Something about the Guide Dog

In brief, please don't treat them like normal dog:
  • don't go and touch them, pat them unless you got the owner's permission,
  • don't play tricks with them,
  • don't feed them normal human food,
  • don't make sounds to attract their attention,
  • don't let your pet (especially dog of course) get too close to them and distract them
Why so? All these above may cause danger to their blind owner, because the guide dog would be too relax and forgot their duty to protect their owner!

Express

my feelings, your feelings;
your complain, my complain;
To express is never a bad thing, people just need to beware of the possible, unpredictable side effect.
All I need, as always the case, is a walk, a glass of water, a moment to take a deep breath.
How about you?

Some great sleep will do, I guess.
Night Night! :)

Hometown, A Very Quick Visit

I went back with Mom and Dad for the Fathers' Day. From night of 7th, we drove south and arrived home Taipei again at night of 9th. Jeez, that was truly quick, wasn't it? However, it was a pleasant trip.

For so many years, I've never been to TungKang, PingTung during summer. I was a busy student during summer vacation, but ironically when I became an OL without vacations, I asked for a leave to go back home celebrating Fathers' Day with Grandpa this time. It turned out great! Relatives were surprised and happy to see me there, and they were astonished by my "hot" summer dress :P
My aunt: "Wow! Wendy, this is the first time for us to know that your style is so hot!"
Me : "Come on, aunty. You saw me mostly in winter, how can you know my summer style then?"
hahahaha~

Nothing much have I done there, besides relaxing, talking and having fun with my relatives. Talking to grandma, helping her prepare materials for the Hungry Ghost Festival, which happened to be at the same date with Fathers's Day this year, made me feel happy as well. Frankly, grandma and I lost our ever tightest connection since I came to Taipei living with my parents, away from her eyesight which didn't resemble my first two and a half years spending with her, so that we shared fewer and fewer topics to talk about; I felt sorry and uncomfortable about that, yet I didn't know what to do positively. All that I knew was to keep her company when I was told to, and tried to be the best grand daughter ever all the time. Additionally, never let go the chances to say sweet words to her: "A-Ma! Your rice dumplings are the best in the world!" "A-Ma! I miss you sooooo much! Take care of yourself for me, because I care!" etc. Saying goodbye to her this time actually made me feel down again. How could it be easy to leave the greatest traditional mother model in my mind?

I'm back to Taipei, nevertheless. Any emotions toward hometown need go down....Because the wheel of live is still rolling, isn't it?

Brief Talk with Craig

Met him on MSN by accident. We've not seen each other for quite a long time.
Normally sent regards to him, and simultaneously I got a beep from Isabel.

"My friend just came back from the concert of APAY, and she was crushed on 'you know who'." said Isabel.
"Guess what? I'm talking with 'you know who' right now on MSN," replied I, "I'm sooooo priviledged, are not I?"
Short after that, I was bombarded with Qs from that fan to Craig. It was fun anyways, to know someone crazily desperately would like to know your "normal" friend's every single thing.

APAY is a rock band that about to publish their first album, and he've stayed so busy recently- would only be worse later. So that I asked him whether they'll be on TV programmes, radios, or any similar occasions.
"Yes. Yes. Yes." replied Craig. "We'll have a press conference for the new album actually." Sounds so cool!
What's more, I told him about my little-girl-fantasy about him, which he'll become a star (of any possible kind) and I pointed at him on TV or from distance to tell people around me "I know this guy! I know this guy! We've been so close to each other." while nearly no one believed me, but only I myself know it was very true.

Now he is quite famous, and definately will become more and more popular in the future.
I'm sooooo privileged to have his mobile number, his MSN, his friendship, and even his homeland phone number. When I told him so, he responsed with something very encouraging and moving: "And I adore you. (While others treat him as a super idol, I AM, his idol!!!)"

Nothing else could be complained. :)

忙的半死,卻完全只能靠自己;

Seif's First Ice Skating!

He did good, and improved fast~~~ Most importantly, he enjoyed quite a lot!!

We had qtite some people came join us last night, and that was the reason why we had a even better, exciting night. Yuki and Chi-Chi came as well! That was out of my expectation! Not to mention Zoye's sudden involve~ They let me wonder if Seif, the handsome little boy, or I was their motivation to come, haha!

Zoye was such a nice girl that she tried hard to make friend with Seif, and to help him learn. Thus I could sometimes go for my speeding skating without worries. Although it's not really good to say so, yet for me, to stay with the group did no good to my speeding desire. Maybe some little boy may beat me later, but for their current status.... Let's wait and see!!

BTW, from the photo on the right, Zoye still had fun when keeping Seif company. (hehehe) He almost fell once, and Zoye happened to be(?) beside him, so as to earn(?!) a quick hug "by accident. Hmmm. By Accident!! ( Who believed in Zoye?)

Anyways, since all of us had a great time last night, we won't blame Zoye for her "keeping an eye on handsome boys rather than on friends." How do you think? This following picture was taken on the rest aisle: each and everyone of us were wearing helmet and ice skating shoes. Cool! TEN OF US!!

Let's ROCK!

Seif and I went for rock climbing tonight together, along with Daniel- his cousin- Zoye, Pig, ZhenZien, and ChiYu. It was a great fun!

The climbing centre required people to have a licence to certify their ability to secure themselves and partners; otherwise, when they came to the centre, they have to be supervised by either someone holding the licence or the couch(es) that day. I've passed the test months ago, and thus I became the "supervisor" (or you could call me the "babysitter") of that night, for 2 pure beginners and 4 would-be licence holder. Wow! That's a record~ SIX lives relied on me~

We got more companies than expected, the centre was PACKED. I left four of them to do the practice themselves, and stuck myself to help Seif and Daniel. Step by step, I first let them try freely to climb in their own ways, and increasingly taught them hints about climbing. I thought they had fun on the walls, and sometimes they would come up with certain meaningful questions. Yet I would say, they were not bold enough to try and challenge themselves. Maybe it was just their first time, or maybe they were conservative in nature. I still believed as young as they both are, 18, they should have done something that surprised me A LOT.

Anyways, these two young boy did well, so did my lovely scout friends. They all passed the test and got two kinds of licence: one for GriGri, the other for Pig Nose.

It was a victory!!! :D

Mt. Hohuan

I left my heart there, ohoh...

We've completed the East Peak- 3421M; the Main Peak 3416M.
And we've 3/4 finished the North Peak due to the unstable misty and rainy weather.

Faint, for the beauty of Nature.
Touched, also because of our precious courage and friendship...

Tea Time with Seif & Aouiti Rim

Hey Hey Hey! See who's here? My Tunisian friends Aouiti Rim and Seif!!!! We had a walk in MaoKong and had dinner at a tea house this evening. Did we have fun? You may see from our smile!!

We two youngsters (I insist!) had great time appreciating my pics in Swiss, and Seif was quite interested in our outdoor experiences over there. For this, I showed him the pics of indoor rock climbing, the hiking to Fruendenhuette and Bluemlisaphuette, and the Klettersteig. Also for his interest, I told him that I may bring him to YF17 sometime if he'd like to. Although he didn't really answer me with a Yes or No, I guess he'll be glad to show up when I invite him.

For the elders, (haha!) they had fun exchanging the ideas about living, especially our differences (between Tunisia&Taiwan). Since Aouiti Rim moved to Tunisia 18 years ago and is still a Taiwanese, she is the best person to answer my curious mom about everything she'd like to know. In return, my mom and dad gave her quite some updates about all the changes and how can those change to the status quo. When the topic came to the education part, which is always the case, yeah....you know my mom, she's a primary school principal. Who can beat her on those issues?

Also quite an interesting thing was that when Seif was short of his Chinese vocabularies, he turned to ask Aouiti Rim in Arabic, which sounded foreign especially to my mom. So, Seif was asked to give us a show- of speaking Arabic on anything. Mom was truly entertained....She kept imitating some sounds of his speech and laughed hard, as well as expressed how particular to hear that language sounded. Anyways, I guessed Mom enjoyed the meeting with this little handsome boy, too!

Before we left, we strongly recommended the owner of the tea house to put up a huge world map somewhere, and kept record of their guest nationalities. That would be quite amazing and astonishing somehow! And if they had also a record on the customers who brought the foreign visitors here, I believe my family will show up so often! It's true! As far as I can remember, we brought friends from at least Japan, Singapore, Canada, and Tunisia!

It was a great night! It was~ :D

The Real Date Line

On one side is the staring night; On the other is the shining day time.
What else can be more amazing than this?

The places in this photo include the west side of Africa, Europe, and Iceland.

Phone Call from Aouiti Rim!

Yesterday, Aouiti called me on my mobile, which is a great surprise! haha~~
She's the tour guide when we went to Tunisia last year, and she brought her son back here to visit relatives and friends this summer. We've expected her for quite some while, but when they've finally arrived, HEY! IT IS STILL SOOOO FANTASTIC!!

"Hsiao-Wen, I'm Aouiti Rim." On hearing her voice I recognized her immediately. That's who saved me last September from the greatest disaster I've ever encounter, she was also the person who showed certain kind of motherhood and warmth for me that time. Additionally, all her family there were so kind to me and inspired me this way or that. By spending the last two days with them, I had the chance to experience the real Tunisia, but not only the kind we saw from the guide book or heard from the tourguide.

True Tunisia, True Life, True People.

I'm looking forward to see them tomorrow afternoon. Aouiti Rim and Seif!
